Epure - Boucheron
3 minutes read
Baselworld - More than just a timepiece, Epure is a way of life and embodies Frédéric Boucheron’s vision of time.

There is nothing more difficult than creating a classic. This said, throughout their history, the artisans of the Maison Boucheron have not ceased in capturing the “air du temps” to create the Great Classics of tomorrow. The new Epure creation has been named in celebration of this artwork, which focuses on pure lines, a timeless signature that is both strong and the essence of modernity.

Epure is the incarnation of refinement and grace. Its traditional round shape with delicate curves, pure lines and minute details magnify the emblematic codes of the Jeweler of Light – the double gadroons, symbols of eternal love and the signature Cabochon with its protective force.

Epure preserves only the essential to illuminate life’s most joyful hours.

Boucheron’s Vision of Time: “ I count only the joyful hours ”

In 1785, the watchmaker Rousseau invented a new type of sundial allowing to adjust one’s watches and clocks to noon. This dial, located in the Palais Royal gardens, reflected its light daily towards Frédéric Boucheron’s first boutique situated under the arches. On the original base one could read:

“ Horas non numero nisi serenas ”
“ I Count only the Joyful Hours ”

Fascinated by this idea of time and of life, Frédéric Bouc heron chose this as his motto. Boucheron therefore reaches beyond the mathematical measurement of time and incorporates the jeweler's vision of life.

Wearing a Boucheron timepiece is a promise of the joyful moments to come.

A gift to be s hared with those who matter most, Epure reminds us that each moment in life must be lived to the fullest and that each hour is precious. Thus, this timepiece passes on from generation to generation, the memory of life ’ s most beautiful moments.

A generously rounded and “mirror” polished case

The Epure case is rounded on every angle (top, bottom and sides) to reflect light :

- A lens-shaped case with beveled and curved edges that sits elegantly on the wrist

- Double gadroons subtly vary the light with symbolic radiance on the side of the case and around the cabochon crown

- A rounded and polished bezel to allow the radiant gold or sparkling diamonds to shine in full expression

- A diamond-finished case intensifying the reflection of light between the bezel and the dial giving it a wider and bolder effect

- A domed sapphire crystal creating the effect of a magnifying glass, heightening all the details beneath

- An open dial with sapphire crystal revealing the brilliant finishes of the watch movement and the "Je ne Sonne que les Heures Heureuses" engraving

An emblematic sundial

-The spacing in between the minutes, which traditionally represents a railway, is replaced by the Maison’s emblematic double gadroons.

-The 11 polished and multi-faceted minute bars provide a dynamic burst of light similar to rays of sunlight.

-At the zenith of the watch face at noon is a radiant and symbolic marker: the blue sapphire cabochon.

-The slightly raised Boucheron signature is centered at 12.

To add contrast, the watch face is available in two versions: a play on light with a satin finished center and a circular satin motif under the hours’ index or just simply a bright white finish.

To enhance the new Epure creation, a manufactured movement was developed in keeping with the purest Swiss watchmaking tradition: the GP 4000 caliber created entirely by the Manufacture Girard-Perregaux in La Chaux-de-Fonds.

The ultimate signature, an oscillating weight on which the cutouts are hand polished, is equally unique since it is cutout in the form of a champagne cork. This master’s seal chosen by Frédéric Boucheron symbolizes the Maison and the philosophy of its creator: to celebrate the most beautiful moments in the lives of his clients.
