Bulgari - Divas’ Dream Tourbillon Squelette

Bulgari Divas’ Dream Tourbillon Squelette

Infused with elegant Italian sensuality, this creation stages a creative encounter between High Jewellery and Haute Horlogerie.

With Divas’ Dream Tourbillon Skeleton, Bulgari exalts our relationship with time in a boldly poetic manner, by combining the finest watchmaking expertise with its historical jeweller’s talent in creating dials crafted using the finest artisanal techniques, enhanced by openworking so refined that the twin skills become inseparable.

Since 1884, Bulgari has been offering its voluptuous and precious jewellery  to women of character and exceptional charisma. The High Jewellery from the Rome-based Maison is consistently luminous and joyful, much like the legendary Italian temperament itself. These jewellery creations are complemented by other treasures in the shape of precious watches. Born of Italian creativity, these watch models benefit from Bulgari’s global mastery of decorative techniques.

For several seasons, the Divas’ Dream line by Bulgari has been establishing itself as a coherent range of creations. It has indeed become one of the graphic signatures of the Maison. One particular shape stands out: the fan, the very symbol of the Divas’ Dream collection. Adorning the walls, paving and ceilings of the Caracalla Baths dating from 216 B.C., the fan-shaped mosaics testify to a refined past as well as to the distinctive lifestyle favoured by the Romans.

Itself deeply rooted in Roman history, Bulgari has drawn inspiration from this rich heritage in endowing the Diva’s Dream collection with its full evocative power. The Bulgari Diva conveys ancestral wisdom while embodying a highly contemporary form of feminine elegance, which is why the watches in the Divas’ Dream collection feature a design incorporating the fan shape as a bracelet lug. This intertwining of the arts of Fine Watchmaking and High Jewellery is magnificently embodied in the two new Divas’ Dream Tourbillon Skeleton watches with their naturalist dials.

Nature has always played an important role in Bulgari’s jewellery creations, and of course in its contemporary Fine Watchmaking creations and more particularly in the I Giardini di Bulgari (Bulgari Gardens) collection.

The new Divas’ Dream Tourbillon Skeleton models set with 76 brilliant-cut diamonds feature a 37 mm-diameter case and a dial depicting a marvellous and colourful vision of nature. In white or pink gold, the timepiece features an exotic garden filled with trees and their lush foliage, amid which a colourful parrot appears. The decoration of this dainty bird calls for delicate hand-crafted micro-painting and enamelling. To achieve such  exquisite mastery of light and shade, relief and contrast, more than a dozen different colours are used and cleverly combined through 20 or so successive operations.

The resulting joyful and luminous impression comes not only from the colours with their wealth of shimmering reflections and transparent effects, but also from the overall skeleton-work. All elements of the movement structure, whether bridges or plates, are finely openworked using a particularly complex technique. The finishing is remarkable, with certain parts being polished and others satin-brushed or circular-grained. All these operations are performed by hand.

Bulgari has chosen to equip these feminine timepieces with one of the most beautiful and spectacular horological complications: the tourbillon. This movement is a beating heart that gives unique life to the watch, beneath the delighted gaze of the woman wearing it, thanks to the dial opening revealing the tourbillon carriage and the openworking, in a vibrant tribute to Italian femininity imbued with unmistakable sophistication.

For these exceptional timepieces, Bulgari has adapted its mechanical hand-wound tourbillon movement, BVL Calibre 208, entirely developed and assembled by the Manufacture Bulgari in Switzerland. It is endowed with a 64-hour power reserve ensuring lasting precision.

These exceptional creations are produced in strictly limited series - 50  pieces - due to the sheer difficulty they involve as well as the time required for the artisans to hand-craft them.
