The eternal rebirth of Serpenti

Serpenti, the jewellery watch with fangs! - Bulgari
This year, Bulgari once again interprets its classic animal symbol, the serpent, in an eminently original and feminine manner.

Bulgari loves snakes. And during Baselworld 2016, the Italian brand presented an array of new reptile-inspired models that every woman would dream of wearing one day. The brand’s iconic animal motif revisits the design codes of High Jewellery and Fine Watchmaking. A symbol of perpetual renewal, the serpent is reinvented in a decidedly contemporary mode this year, adopting a range of captivating and surprising guises.

Serpenti Incantati
Serpenti Incantati offers a whole new take on this symbol. Initially coiled around the wrist, the serpent now takes on a whole new life by embracing the case of a round watch, wrapping itself around the timepiece dial and thereby providing a fascinating frame for an entirely skeleton-worked Manufacture-made movement.
Interpreted as a jewellery watch in a smaller size than its equivalent with a horological complication, Serpenti Incantati comes in two 30 mm versions: a rubellite-set pink gold variation with a satin strap or matching jewellery bracelet, and a second option in diamond-set white gold with the same choice of strap/ matching bracelet.

Serpenti Spiga
Its resolutely rock’n’roll attitude enables Serpenti Spiga to welcome all manner of bold moves. Crafted in white or black ceramic and enhanced with precious metal accents evoking the jeweller’s DNA, the watch features a diamond-set pink gold bezel, while the bracelet lug and the tail of the snake are also in pink gold. Embodying an authentic challenge, since it is by no means easy to create a perfectly supple ceramic bracelet, Serpenti Spiga admirably showcases the technical and aesthetic feats achieved by the Rome-based Maison. This new ladies’ timepiece radiates a voluptuous charm irresistibly mingled with glamour.

Serpenti Joaillerie
These are exactly the kind of colourful and sparkling interpretations that the House loves to create. Bulgari provides a new version of the jewellery line that is more classically fitted on a single-coil bracelet, with a characteristic design in which the snake’s head rests on its tail. These creations highlight appealing chromatic combinations composed of diamonds, colourful mother-of-pearl, coral, onyx or turquoise stones, once again mounted on a pink gold base.

This distinctive new twist in the tale comes in three variations: one with a bracelet in mother-of-pearl and coral bracelet; a second in mother-and-pearl and turquoise; and a third in onyx and coral. A subtle row of diamonds adorns the bracelet elements and extends onto the diamond-set pink gold serpent’s head. The onyx and coral version has a black lacquered dial and the two others have a shimmering pink mother-of-pearl dial, all graced with brilliant-cut diamond hour-markers.

Serpenti Tubogas
Like a second skin, Serpenti Tubogas exercises an inimitable appeal with its combination of steel and pink gold that gives a special glow to the woman wearing it. Three interpretations are available, including a five-row steel and pink gold version winding languidly around the entire forearm and revealing the full extent of the Serpenti’s supple nature as well as its ability to adapt both to the wrist and to the latter’s movements. The two other more discreet single-coil versions – one with the gleam of polished steel and the other playing with chrome-plated and gold reflective effects – frame a purple dial reminiscent of amethyst.

In 2016, Bulgari offers an incredible wealth of variations on a theme, created through various gemsetting approaches, associations of colours and materials, as well as bracelet lengths. There is thus an abundance of options to suit each woman’s tastes, leaving them no excuse for not adorning their wrist with the Serpenti of their choice!
