In its new collection, Écritures de Chaumet, the Maison - which has always had strong ties to the arts - pays homage to impressionist painting. Capturing the essence of works by Manet, Renoir, Monet, Van Gogh, Redon and Caillebotte, the limited-edition collection reinterprets the great paintings of the nineteenth century. As if captured by a zoom, the abstract compositions of these watch dials evoke the artists’ iconic brush strokes in an ode to light and to the arts.
Powered by a self-winding mechanical movement, these timepieces have a rose gold or a white gold case paved with diamonds. To create each one of these pieces' dial, different craft techniques has been used to reproduce the painter's style : an engraved and sculpted yellow gold dial with miniature-painting (knife painting effect) for Van Gogh; an oil miniature painting on canvas and gold leaf application for Renoir; a white gold base, hollowed and oxidized in black, with jade, opal and mother-of-pearl marquetry for Manet; a yellow gold dial engraved and decorated with miniature painting for Caillebotte; a sapphire crystal dial engraved with pink miniature painting on the underside and green miniature painting on the top for Monet; a grand Feu enamel miniature painting dial for Redon.
These watches are all equiped with a powdered satin strap whose colour reflects those of the dial : orange, red, burgundy, black, fuchsia, coral pink.
