New York, diving watches and unusual and historic brands are on the menu this week. And we also have a new partner.

Everything seems to have settled into summer mode, and holidays are taking priority. Watch news may have slowed down somewhat, but it has by no means stopped. This week, WorldTempus offers a summery take on the watch industry news, for all those for whom the summer holidays have not yet begun, or perhaps have already finished. Travel and photos are on this week’s menu.

If you made the most of the good weather yesterday and didn’t check in to WorldTempus, it’s still not too late to take a look at the videos of Laurent Ballesta’s Gombessa IV expedition, in collaboration with Blancpain, which see him diving off the Fakarava Atoll with sharks and groupers. Today we head for New York, where Patek Philippe’s big exhibition has just closed its doors. Roberta Naas went to see the new watches specially created by the Geneva watchmaker for the occasion, particularly the world première World Time Minute Repeater, and an exceptional series of métiers d’arts pieces drawing on the history of the United States. Browse through our photo gallery and you might almost have been there yourself. Depending on where you live, Paul O’Neil’s outing might seem less exotic, but it’s no less interesting from a watch culture perspective. Urban Jürgensen has just moved its headquarters to the lakeside city of Biel/Bienne in Switzerland, into a building that perfectly encapsulates the brand’s rich history and watchmaking heritage.

Summer is the perfect time for dive watches, and Panerai’s Submersible models are an exciting option, both for their professional underwater performance and their sports chic styling off the water. But which one? On Wednesday we tell you everything you need to know about the collection, and bring you the obligatory photo gallery. On Thursday we’ll take a closer look at Cabestan. Olivier Müller interviewed the company CEO Lionel Betoux, and learned more about the company’s unstoppable creativity and its plans for the future. We also revisit some of the brand’s watch models.

Our Big Summer Competition has settled into cruising speed as it enters the second month. This week, you can put the finishing touches to your holiday look with a chance to win HYT and Cabestan caps, an IWC Pilot Package, and a polo shirt. Enter today to win an educational prize that will also give you a pleasant change of scenery: a visit to the Jaeger-LeCoultre manufacture in the Vallée de Joux, a region well worth a visit on its own.

Finally, WorldTempus welcomes a new partner this summer. Schwarz Etienne is a brand with over a hundred years’ history, that nevertheless has its eyes on the future.
