Summer Time Flowers - Floral watches
1 minute read
This summer, everywhere you look flowers bloom anew in beautiful colors and fascinating complexity. Now, top watch brands keep pace with nature’s bounty.
Few women in the world can resist the allure and beauty of flowers.  They bring a little softness to nature and life, and add elegance to all we do. Savvy watchmakers recognize this and reinterpret nature’s color and life in all forms on the wrist. Some offer simple wisps of inspiration, while others go full-forward with floral designs, and yet others incorporate them into the mechanics of the watch so that there is something to please even the most discerning woman.

This year, Piaget extended even further its Couture Precieuse collection of ultra-feminine yet contemporary pieces. This brand, long familiar with the creation of florally inspired timepieces, perhaps executes its best renditions in the Limelight Collection. Its newest Limelight Dancing Light – created in 18-karat gold and set with brilliant-cut diamonds - features a subtle floral motif in gold and diamonds on its white dial. The watch houses the 56P quartz movement and is set with 206 brilliant-cut diamonds in total, weighing approximately 2.5 carats.

Flowers just became much more portable for the woman of taste.
Chanel – also offering subtlety – deftly blends its rich expertise in floral watches with its complicated watch making in the new Chanel Premiere Flying Tourbillon Sapphire watch. Adorning the iconic Premiere watch (shaped to emulate the Place Vendome and the Chanel No. 5 bottle stopper) with either pink or blue sapphires, Chanel offers sophisticated women a flying tourbillon escapement watch wherein the tourbillon is shaped like a flower. The Camelia flying tourbillon caliber was created in conjunction with Renaud & Papi. The watch is created in a limited edition.

Offering a lovely fully rendered flower dial, Bovet pulls out all the stops in its Mille Fleurs watch collection – which is customizable and convertible.  Indeed, the flowers that are hand-painted onto the watch dial in this series can be individually selected by the customer (though there is a waiting period for the watch to be completed, as the miniature hand painting is a time-consuming process).  Additionally, the Mille Fleurs watch is created using the 39mm Amadeo Convertible watch case, which can easily be interchanged by the wearer to act as a wrist watch, a pendant watch or a tiny table clock. Romantic and versatile, the watch houses the self-winding Calibre 11BA12 movement with 72 hours of power reserve.
