1966 Limited editions Enamel dial - Girard-Perregaux
Girard-Perregaux introduces 3 limited editions using the miniature painting and the cloisonné enamels processes.

The Girard-Perregaux 1966 ‘Pur Sang’ Miniature Enamel Painting is paying tribute to the untamed beauty of a magnificent Arabian ‘pur sang’, whose head is featured on the dial in vibrant hand-painted miniature.
For this enamel technique, the base plate is enamelled in white and then decorated with coloured enamels. The dial is fired after every colour application, starting from the most resilient colours to the most delicate ones. The piece is then finished with one last transparent layer of enamel.

The dials of the two Girard-Perregaux 1966 ‘The Map’ & ‘The World’ Cloisonné Enamel timepieces offer an example of Cloisonné enamel beautifully decorated with a map of the world, a great classic in the Haute Horlogerie tradition.

The designs of the continents are drawn by arranging into shape pieces of fine gold wire, into which the enamel is applied. Next comes the firing, timed to the minute in a furnace at 800°C. After cooling, the excess enamel is removed by sanding and the dial is manually polished before a last firing called “Dorure”.

These three limited editions (50 pieces each) are housed in the elegant Girard-Perregaux 1966 round case and beat to the automatic GP03300 calibre, displaying the hours and minutes. The decorations and finishes adorning the components of the movement can be seen through a transparent sapphire case-back.
The watches are worn on a black alligator leather strap.
