To many fans, Leo Messi is the greatest player in the history of the soccer: nine-time champion of the Spanish soccer league, four-time winner of the European Champions’ League, five-time winner of the Ballon d’Or, five-time winner of the Golden Boot, and winner of Olympic gold, Messi is widely admired for his speed on the attack, efficiency of motion, and breathtaking creativity.
The 47mm Epic X Chrono “Messi” features a polished grade-5 titanium case, antireflection sapphire glass, white ceramic chronograph bezel and buttons, titanium and blue-rubber horns, and red-rubber crowns. Its light blue and white color is derived from the flag of Argentina, which is Messi’s home country. The timepiece is also water resistant to 200 meters and guaranteed shock resistant. It is animated by the automatic bi-compax skeleton chronograph movement (JCAA05), which can be admired through the sapphire crystal caseback. This Jacob & Co. manufacturing calibre operating at 4 Hz has a column wheel and 48-hour power reserve.
Naturally, Leo Messi wanted to personalize his watch, so he put his number 10 in red on the flange ring, his logo – a stylized M – on the dial at six o’clock, and his signature on the blue sapphire glass at the back of the case.
The watch is complemented with a white openworked rubber strap with titanium deployment clasp and is available in a strictly limited edition of 180 pieces.
The Epic X Chrono “Messi” marks the beginning of an exclusive three-year timepiece partnership between Lionel Messi and Jacob & Co. and is the first of several limited edition designs to be released from the collaboration. At December 18th’s Golden Boot Gala, Messi sported the SF24 Tourbillon, the next watch model to be featured in a limited edition collection.
