SIHH 2017 Preview – Rendez-Vous - Jaeger-LeCoultre
The poetic themes of day, night, the moon and chimes are translated into technical complications in a new series of Rendez-Vous watches.

The women’s Rendez-Vous collection, introduced in 2012, is characterised by its round case, elegant, understated dial with floral hands and twelve retro Arabic numerals. This classic, refined collection takes its Art Deco inspiration and gives it a modern twist. Technically, the collection more than lives up to its aesthetic exterior. The watchmaking expertise and attention to detail for which Jaeger-LeCoultre has been known since 1833 are sublimated in meticulously finished manufacture movements.

In five years the collection has ticked all the boxes for horological complications, from the simplest – a date – to the most prestigious, including a perpetual calendar, a tourbillon and a minute repeater, not forgetting day/night indicators and the poetic moon phase display, a highlight of the Rendez-Vous collection. In a preview of what we will see at the SIHH 2017, Jaeger-LeCoultre is unveiling three new models in a variety of materials, sizes and colours, with a range of different functions.

Rendez-Vous Sonatina Large
This model brings a new feature to the Rendez-Vous collection: a striking function to remind the wearer of appointments. The alarm time is indicated by a tiny gilt star, a familiar feature from earlier models, which is moved around the dial by a secondary crown. At the desired time, a hammer strikes the gong to produce a single chime, which gives the model its name. The Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 735, which has a 40-hour power reserve, also governs the semi-circular day/night display between 5 and 7 o’clock. The rose gold case of the Large model measures 38.2 mm in diameter, and is set with brilliant-cut diamonds around the bezel, on the lugs and the caseband. The silvered guilloché dial provides an understated foil for the black figures and floral hands in blued steel which are typical of the collection. Fitted with a pale pink alligator strap, the Rendez-Vous Sonatina Large is both charming and sophisticated. It is also available in white gold with an amethyst dial.

Rendez-Vous Night & Day
The Night & Day function is a signature of the Rendez-Vous collection. This year, Jaeger-LeCoultre is offering it in the new large 38.2 mm size, in plain steel or 18 karat pink gold with optional diamond setting, along with a new Medium model in yellow gold, a first for the collection.

These automatic timepieces have a silvered guilloché dial with graining in the centre, and a sun and moon day/night indicator in pink gold, yellow gold or blued steel, depending on the version. The interchangeable strap system, a convenient feature of the collection, gives a choice of a steel bracelet or pastel-coloured ostrich leather straps.

Rendez-Vous Moon
The moon phase display, the queen of the Rendez-Vous collection, features this year in several new timepieces. A Medium 34 mm version in steel or pink gold, with a diamond-set bezel, offers a guilloché dial with an aperture at 6 o’clock revealing a large round moon phase display. The satellite is depicted in a stunningly realistic and creative way, with a sanded finish and stippled effect that gradually reveals itself as the days pass.

Like all Jaeger-LeCoultre movements, the Calibre 935A is manufactured, assembled and decorated by hand. The extremely precise moon phase complication requires adjustment just once every 985 years.
