The JC 1588 Sport is the fourth collection from julien Coudray 1518. As its name implies, it takes its place within a sporting environment, yet without betraying the brand’s signature Renaissance style. These models reprise the dial inspired by 16th century steeple clocks, with a chapter ring featuring cartouches as well as Roman numerals. It naturally incorporates the famous service-indicator aperture revealing an oil drop after four years of operation as a sign that the watch is due to be serviced. It is distinguished by a more rugged finish and above all by the use of titanium, a first for this particular House. This particular metal appears not only on the dial but also the case and bracelet. Depending on the model, it is used alone or combined with a precious metal (red gold, yellow gold, white gold or platinum). On the design side, the relatively modestly-sized case (41 mm in diameter) is topped by a ratcheted bezel with carved notches every five seconds. Monohull lugs replace the lugs on previous models, and the more angular crown is equipped with protective guards on either side. It is also the brand’s first watch with a metal bracelet, distinguished by highly original X-shaped central links.
Personalisation
The introduction of the JC 1588 Sport also marks the launch of the first automatic movement from the Manufacture julien Coudray 1518. The materials composing it match those of the exterior (all-titanium, titanium-gold or titanium-platinum); while the oscillating weight may be customised with an astonishing gold and Grand Feu enamel plate. Durability
The lifespan of his precious watches is a major preoccupation for Fabien Lamarche. It governs the choice of materials, the design of the components and mechanical systems, as well as the creation of highly specific tools. After the multi-function presentation box, an analytical and adjustment system unique in the world, he now introduces a particularly useful kit of accessories. The goal is to ensure the authenticity of watch creations across several generations. While other manufacturers store components with a view to future restorations, julien Coudray 1518 goes a step further by putting together a set of spare parts for each watch produced. Each individual model has its own vacuum-packed individual kit in a dedicated aluminium presentation case. All are securely stored in a safe, first in the Manufacture itself and then in the vaults of a partner bank. Each bears the information relating to the corresponding watch: its name, its individual numbers, its material, its potential specific features and the date of its creation. No codes or specific documents are required to gain access to this treasure: all the owner need do is present the watch itself!
