Taking inspiration from historic trunks, the LV Fifty Five collection carries several signatures inspired by the company’s heritage, history and world. The most significant ones are the two metal plaques, riveted and engraved with the name Louis Vuitton, and inspired by trunk lock plaques. These models’ riveted plaques are set with diamonds. The discreet engraved winding crown serves as a subtle reminder of the heads of the trunk rivets.
The contemporary dial draws on watchmaking expertise for its subtle finishes. The diamond model’s dials are adorned with mother-of-pearl. The diamond and pink gold hour markers are in a V shape at three-quarters and feature an LV signature at 12 o’clock. They too, are a reference to Louis Vuitton‘s heritage, particularly the famous triple V marking painted on numerous pieces of luggage.
This symbol, made of the two entwined initials, also appears on the fastening of the folding clasp, designed for the LV Fifty Five timepiece. This iconic monogram, consisting of the two initials positioned within a ring, allows the shade of the leather bracelet to show through. For the bracelets, Louis Vuitton uses its own Veau Cachemire and Taurillon leathers, which comes in white, grey, rose ballerine, grass green, dawn, fuchsia and cobalt.
