Louis Vuitton Tambour World Time Runway

With its new automatic movement, the LV107 calibre, the WorldTime function evolves and combines elegance and sporting allure, paying tribute to international aviation codes.

A new calibre

The World Time function is evolving, with the perfecting of a new automatic movement,
the LV107 calibre. Developed and assembled in-house by the master watchmakers at la Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton, it introduces two central hour and minute hands in place of rotating discs. This optimises how you can read universal time. Modern-day globetrotters can instantly tell the time in all 24 time zones with just a glance. If the time indicated by the central hands is the correct time in the city whose name is positioned at 12 o’clock, then the local time in the other capitals can reliably be deduced from their position.

A new interpretation

The Tambour World Time Runway combines the elegance of the world time function with the sporty vibe of this one-of-a-kind Tambour. Its dial is crafted in house by virtuoso dial-makers. Housed in a 46 mm-diameter case allying two materials and two colours – pink gold and black PVD-coated stainless steel – this dial adopts a new architecture and new style codes and is crafted in house by virtuoso dial-makers. Its apparent depth is made possible by a city disc formed of sapphire crystal. The disc projects the initials of each of the 24 cities, as if they were suspended above the hours.

Echoing the international aviation aesthetic seen on airport runways around the world, the foregrounded colours are black, white and yellow. The art of travel is in Louis Vuitton’s DNA, and this watch pays fresh homage by channelling that most contemporary means of transport, the aeroplane.

A striking case

Despite achieving the status of a classic since its launch in 2002, the Tambour watch case keeps on surprising us. Its imposing sporty character is now augmented by a heftier winding crown. Made of pink gold covered with black rubber, it gives an optimal grip. The strap is interchangeable and with the exclusive, simple and robust concept specific to Tambour watches, easily swappable in an instant to suit one’s mood, with no hassle and no tools.
