Since its official unveiling to the world in 2016, the Aikon has become an emblematic watch for Maurice Lacroix. Now the brand steps things up a notch

It was five years ago in 2016 that Maurice Lacroix unveiled its Aikon watch with strong design ethos and great value proposition. Even the brand execs could not have imagined the success it would have with this watch and its ensuing renditions. Now,  the brand unveils its newest Automatic Chronograph Sprint watch, a new interchangeable rubber strap, and other colorful automatics.

The new Aikon Chronograph Sprint watch is all about offering a bold and fun take on time. A sporty urban chic watch, the newest piece offers a burst of color-coordinated panache. Each watch boasts three subsidiary dials – one each at 12:00, 6:00 and 9:00 (the seconds subdial). The numerals on the subdials at 12:00 and 6:00, the dial of the 9:00 subdial, the chronograph central seconds hand and the rubber strap are all color coordinated in a sky blue hue. The watch, powered by an automatic movement with circular graining and Cotes de Geneve motif on the rotor, also offers day and date at 3:00.

The 44mm case, bezel, crown and pushers are all created in stainless steel matte black DLC – a great contrast with the sky blue hue. The Aikon’s signature six arms that hug the bezel are crafted in gunmetal finish for contrast. That same gunmetal color is used for the sunray dial with square motif on it. The hour and minute hands are coated with Super-LumiNova for easy nigh time reading. The FKM rubber strap marks the first time the Aikon dons FKM rubber.

In addition to the Aikon Automatic Chronograph Sprint watch, Maurice Lacroix releases new Aikon Automatic watches with a variety of dial colors. Its 39mm version is now available with a rich forest green dial and matching FKM rubber strap that was heretofore only offered for the 42mm version.  Additionally, the brand now offers the beloved rose-gold toned dial that has been part of the 39mm series in the 42mm size. There is also a dark gray dial that is gradient, lighter in the center and darker at the edges,  for both the 39 and 42mm versions.

Thanks to the Aikon’s EasyStrap Exchange system, wearers now have the choice of a stainless steel bracelet or a leather strap, as in the past, but now they also can select the newly released range of FKM rubber straps with raised sides.  This grade of rubber offers better water resistance and less fading than other qualities of rubber. The rubber straps boast a Clous de Paris motif in the center that replicates the dial pattern. The new rubber straps boast the brand’s iconic M and come in an array of colors.
