Montblanc introduces a new all-black cross-category collection that pays tribute to its heritage while celebrating the attributes associated with the Maison’s central colour – style, elegance and the simplicity of timeless design.
Black is the absolute of all colours, a statement of infinite beauty and exceptional design in luxury. It has also been part of Montblanc’s DNA since the Maison’s inception in 1906, with ebonite as the main ingredient in the production of Montblanc’s original writing instruments, and one of only two colours in the company’s emblem, created in 1913.
In its ongoing mission to inspire people to express their full potential by doing what truly moves them, Montblanc is introducing Montblanc UltraBlack, its first ever complete cross-category collection united by an all-black design theme.
A celebration of the modernity of its most recognizable colour, the collection brings together with simplicity and timeless elegance multiple product categories from leather goods to writing instruments, from watches to new smart technologies. Montblanc 1858 Geosphere UltraBlack Watch
The 1858 Geosphere UltraBlack Watch continues the legacy of over 160 years of Minerva’s history in fine watchmaking, linking the past and the present through design, style and innovation. Icon of the 1858 collection, the timepiece features the Manufacture Worldtime complication with two turning domed hemisphere globes which make a full rotation in 24 hours providing an instinctive way of reading different time zones.
The 1858 Geosphere UltraBlack celebrates the colour black with contrasting grey and white elements. This timepiece comes in a distinctive black-coated steel case with a special satin-finishing, achieved by manual washing and brushing. This technique gives each watch its own and unique patina. In the dark, the 1858 Geosphere UltraBlack glows as the cathedral-shaped hands, the indexes, the compass indications and the hemisphere globes are all coated by hand with white SuperLumiNova®.
Dedicated to the Seven Summit Mountaineering Challenge, the locations of the seven summits, and the Mont-Blanc, are indicated with red-coloured dots on the two hemispheres. On the case back, you will find engraved, in the centre, a drawing of the Mont Blanc mountain, two crossing ice picks and a compass surrounded by all seven summits, namely Mount-Everest, Aconcagua, Denali, Kilimanjaro, Elbrus, Vinson, Puncak Jaya. All these key aesthetical details evoke the spirit of mountain exploration and the iconic peak that inspired the founders of our Maison.
