LV Fifty-Five is the name of the new watch from Louis Vuitton that makes its debut on WorldTempus today. The figure is just short of the total number of articles we published on WorldTempus last week.

On the digital cover of WorldTempus today you will find the new LV Fifty Five from Louis Vuitton. Aside from its clever play on words in the name (LV being of course 55 in Roman Numerals, signalling a switch from Roman to Arabic numerals) this new model is significant because it has been conceived from scratch and introduces an entirely new case design to the Louis Vuitton timepiece collection.

Our round tables on the finalists in the individual categories for this year’s GPHG continue this week with a look at the tourbillons. To coincide with our analysis, David Chokron also provides a handy reminder of what a tourbillon actually is. Apart from the GPHG 2015, the other main event of the autumn is the Only Watch charity auction, for which all the watches will officially be presented at the Monaco Yacht Show, which opens this week. Camille Gendre will be taking a day-return to the Principality to report from the event.

As you read these lines, H. Moser & Cie. is gearing up for a unique event. As a partner of the first parabolic flight from Switzerland, the brand will be testing a variety of components in the brief period of weightlessness experienced during such flights. Our editor-in-chief will be travelling to the airfield in Dübendorf, near Zurich, to find out more. Hamilton will also be carrying out similar tests on some ETA movements next month, as zero gravity strangely becomes a new testing ground for watches that are unlikely ever to experience it.
As all good things must come to an end, our series of daily summer competitions, which started in mid-June, will finish this week. We would like to thank the thousands of people who took part in them and took the time to contact us with their thanks, queries and minor niggles. The operation has been a huge success and has also helped us to improve the site. Don’t forget that you can still win one of 10 SwissKubik StartBox watch winders in our regular monthly competition.
