Luminor Luna Rossa - Panerai

Three characteristic implementations. A module that is full of meaning. Developed by Panerai and inspired by the Challenger of Record of the 36th America’s Cup.

Panerai has chosen the SIAR, Salón Internacional Alta Relojería in Mexico City to consolidate a unique collection. Three new references form an authentic expression of futuristic mechanical craftsmanship: the Luminor Luna Rossa Regatta – 47 mm (PAM01038), the Luminor Rossa Chrono Flyback – 44 mm (PAM01037), and the Luminor Luna Rossa GMT – 44 mm (PAM01036). They are significant, differentiated and challenging.

Panerai Luminor Luna Rossa

Complying strictly with the new colour code initiated by Luna Rossa, behind their resolutely enthralling graphic appearance the new Luminor watches conceal bold constituent materials. These have been selected and validated by the Panerai Laboratorio di Idee for their recognised properties of lightness, sturdiness and resistance to stress and corrosion. These characteristics are part of the technical and functional features of the stateof-the-art composites and metals, tested in real life on yachts taking part in the America’s Cup as the Carbotech’s layering of carbon fibres bonded and reinforced by polymers and the high-tech ceramic, an exciting alchemical composite, produced by the transmutation of zirconium oxide powder into the solid state and Grade 2 titanium, pure metal, virile. The new Luminor share these high-performance materials with the Luna Rossa AC75, and also the sail material, which in a surprising departure from its normal use has been applied as a covering to the dial. The result is a bold addition to the collection dedicated to Luna Rossa, of which Panerai is Official Sponsor and, naturally, the Official Watch. This is why it has created models specially equipped with features designed to be used in yacht races, from the Regatta countdown to the Flyback chronograph and the GMT, which can be set to the Auckland time zone during the New Zealand regattas.

On the mechanical front, the same bold level of technological innovation seen in materials is evident in the range of movements, a tangible technical achievement of the Panerai Manufacture in Neuchâtel. In them, complexity is translated into practicality, at the exclusive service of functionality. These are three calibres with automatic winding and a power reserve of three days, specially conceived to reaffirm and, through their respective complications, to emphasise the ancestral, mutual relationship with the world of the sea that is shared by Panerai and Luna Rossa. All are representative, starting with the P.9100/R calibre fitted to the Luminor Luna Rossa Regatta – 47 mm (PAM01038), the sole movement of the brand equipped with the Regatta pre-start countdown, a function specially developed for the world of sailing. But it also has a flyback chronograph, a specific feature it shares with the P.9100 calibre fitted to the Luminor Luna Rossa Chrono Flyback – 44 mm (PAM1037). Then there is the accurate, mechanically sophisticated P.9010/GMT movement with indication of a second time zone. Its features make it perfectly fitted to the Luminor Luna Rossa GMT – 44 mm (PAM01036).

Panerai Luminor Luna Rossa

Water-resistant to 30 bar, a depth of about 300 metres, or to 10 bar, a depth of about 100 metres, the new Luminor Luna Rossa watches are supplied with a “Ponte Vecchio” calf leather strap, black with white stitching, and an additional strap made of black rubber.

The equipment is completed by a special box in sailcloth, personalised with the Panerai and Luna Rossa logos, as well as a certificate attesting to the authenticity of the sailcloth from the Luna Rossa which is also used on the dial of the watch.
