At the heart of the new Altiplano watches beats a movement just 3 mm thick, encased in a pink or white gold 6.36 mm “corset” with a slightly slimmer 40 mm diameter.
The new automatic Calibre 1205P, the twelfth movement in the Altiplano collection, adds a date indication to the off-centre small seconds display already enlivening the famous previous generation. On the reverse side of the pure and instantly recognisable three-layered dial, this mechanical work of art reveals its 221 parts through the sapphire crystal case-back, amid a stunning Fine Watchmaking stage-setting.
Entirely crafted in the Manufacture Piaget, the new Altiplano Date sets a double world record (for both case and calibre) in the category of automatic date watches. Its pink or white gold interpretations are topped by a bezel that also comes in a diamond-set version.
