Horsepower figures alone are not the be-all and end-all when it comes to determining a car’s performance. How much weight that power has to pull around is also important, as is the way in which that power gets to the wheels and the tarmac. When horsepower exceeds a thousand, however, it’s an indication of something special. Only a handful of cars in the world are capable of delivering such power, and the new one-off 10th anniversary TS1 GT that Zenvo Automotive is presenting at this year’s Geneva Motor Show is one of them. A 5.8 litre power unit with twin superchargers develops 1165 PS, which is much more than mundane supercars like the Ferrari LaFerrari, the Porsche 918 or even the sold-out McLaren P1. And thanks to the use of carbon fibre and other lightweight composites for the chassis and bodywork, the lucky owner can expect formidable performance.
Coming safely to a standstill is, however, just as important in a hypercar as blistering acceleration and mind-boggling top speeds. To coincide with its brand-new association with Zenvo Automotive, Swiss watch brand Rebellion Timepieces has therefore chosen the instantly recognizable design of a performance brake disc for the new limited-edition Predator 2.0 GMT Zenvo timepiece. Rather than merely play on allusions to the automotive world, this new watch incorporates the design of a drilled brake disc and caliper directly into the time display in the form of a disc that displays the hours. The minutes are read more conventionally by a central minutes hand and a 24-hour disc at 6 o’clock, bearing the Zenvo logo at its centre, which indicates the time in a second time zone of your choice and rotates around the dial.
This limited edition comes in an imposing 48mm diameter case in red gold with an integrated vulcanized rubber strap that is available in a choice of colours (brown, black, red, blue, yellow, purple, white or orange) and a folding clasp with patented fine adjustment system. The timekeeping functions are provided by a bespoke Swiss Made self-winding movement developed in collaboration with Telos and based on the ETA 2892 with a power reserve of 42 hours and a special additional module and bespoke oscillating mass featuring Rebellion’s special finishing.
Unlike other partnerships between prestige car manufacturers and Swiss watchmakers, the relationship between Rebellion Timepieces and Zenvo Automotive does not end there. In addition to collaboration on watches, Rebellion Timepieces will also work on the instrumentation for Zenvo cars and a technical partnership with the sister company Rebellion Racing will allow the two companies to share data, engineering and testing.
