Top 10 new watches of 2015 - Review
2 minutes read
Our readers have voted with their mice and fingers to indicate the most popular new watches of 2015.

Our figures are taken from 1st January until 27th December 2015 and are cumulated over both language versions of the site (English and French) to provide the list of the top 10 most-visited pages in the “new watches” section of WorldTempus. Here are the results:

1) Cartier’s 2015 gents complications
The most popular article of the year was published on 19th January and reviews the five gents complications presented by Cartier at the SIHH in 2015.

2) Gucci Dive
The Italian fashion house broke new ground just ahead of Baselworld 2015 by launching its first diver’s watch.

3) Frédérique Constant Horological Smartwatch
The Swiss watch industry’s first response to the rise of the smart watch proved very popular, especially since Frédérique Constant seemed to be so far ahead of its peers, announcing the concept towards the end of 2014 and presenting the production version of the Horological Smartwatch  well ahead of Baselworld 2015.

4) IWC Portofino Midsize
Also announced in late 2014 and subsequently one of the stars of the brand’s presence at the SIHH in 2015, the IWC Portofino Midsize collection put a definitive end to IWC’s machismo, clearly targeting a female clientele (and perhaps pre-empting the 2016 trend towards ladies’ watches).

 5) Harry Winston Opus 14
Although the brand’s CEO Nayla Hayek confirmed in an exclusive interview with WorldTempus during Baselworld that the Opus series would continue, the Harry Winston Opus 14 was kept a closely guarded secret until its launch in Baden-Baden in October.

6) Ralph Lauren RL Automotive Skeleton
With its unique hardwood bezel inspired by the dashboard of one of the vintage cars in Ralph Lauren’s personal collection, the RL Automotive Skeleton enjoyed a popularity in 2015 that the brand will find it difficult to match due to its absence from the show in 2016.

7) Christophe Claret Aventicum
The world’s first hologram watch featuring a mirascope, the Christophe Claret Aventicum was presented during the SIHH week but enjoyed popularity throughout the year as new version featuring different microsculpures were presented.

8) Clé de Cartier
Not just a new watch but an entire new collection was presented by Cartier during the SIHH. A new case shape and rectangular crown distinguish the Clé de Cartier that offers a variety of models for both ladies and gents.

9) Hermès Slim QP
An elegantly slim case and a distinctive and easy-to-read typeface for the Arabic numerals set the Hermès Slim QP apart. This popular watch was the winner of the first prize in the Calendar Watch category at the 2015 GPHG awards.

10) Louis Vuitton Escale Time Zone
A new, more affordable “hands-free” design from the brand presented during Baselworld, the Louis Vuitton Escale Time Zone proved popular throughout the year.
