Inspired by the world of the Diva, the new Velvet collection from the Genevan watchmaker, ROGER DUBUIS will be in the spotlight at SIHH 2012. Uninhibited, inventive and precious, it recalls the energy of such women on their march towards independence: dazzlingly attractive and full of spirit, their natural elegance magnified by the willingness to dare. The principal pièce in the collection is a model in pink gold set with diamonds that underline its strong design, priceless expertise, refined jewellery and seductive grace.

In conceiving its latest watchmaking world, ROGER DUBUIS has taken its inspiration from the example of liberated women. Its objective has been to capture the essence of a heroine and find the best way to express its vision of a muse. The Diva is a complete character: she is elegant, passionate, with the voice of a goddess or a dream silhouette. Eminently feminine, eternally admired, she transcends the senses. Her world pays homage to talent and beauty and ROGER DUBUIS has drawn on her power of seduction to create models that are simply sensational. Unmistakably féminine and unarguably appealing, these are watches with spirit and edge.

With its graphic two-level dial emphasised by a curved crystal, and its delicate case mounted on a jewelled bracelet, the Velvet collection is an example of perfectly controlled sophistication. At all levels it shows a determination to stand out yet still retaining a certain classicism. To do this, it preserves the signature style of the Genevan watchmaker but incorporates some strong identity codes. The result is a collection that is utterly feminine, daring and sparkling.

The first models in this ladies' line, the Velvet Watch in pink gold and set with diamonds, catches the eye and awakens the curiosity with a subtle, brilliant line encircling the case: the extended Roman numerals appear to hover between the central barrel and the circle, creating a trompe l'oeil on two levels. In the foreground, the brushed centrepiece carries the ROGER DUBUIS name while around it a brushed sunray effect contrasts with the black transferred Roman numerals. The numerals at 6.00 and 12.00, however, are applied in pink gold.

Produced in the purest tradition of mechanical watchmaking, the pink-gold Velvet demonstrates that Fine Watchmaking is in perfect harmony with femininity. Its round case, 36 mm in diameter, contains the RD821 calibre, a self-winding mechanical movement that is manufactured, assembled and decorated entirely by hand.

The Velvet model perfectly combines the reliability of a prestigious timepiece with the sparkle of jewellery. It upholds the values of ROGER DUBUIS: passion, daring and expertise, all devoted to technical and aesthetic perfection. The jewellery playfully enhances the round form of the watch while 66 diamonds (approximately 1.33 carats) add a decorative halo to the bezel. The bracelet extends this aura of light with a setting of 196 diamonds (approximately 1.65 carats). The attachments, also set with diamonds, extend onto the bracelet; recalling the central horn that is a fundamental part of the brand's design code, here they become a subtle element in the design.

Faithfully following the tradition of excellence that has established the brand's reputation, the Velvet in pink gold with diamonds meets the new standards of the Geneva Seal. This mark of quality, issued by the Canton of Geneva to a small number of manufacturers, represents an official guarantee that the watch and its functions operate correctly. It also certifies that the watch movement is made by hand, assembled and regulated in Geneva and that it complies with the strict requirements laid d
