The big blue wave continues to surge across the watchmaking planet. You can hardly miss this azure hue that is becoming a universal hit.

The advent of the “blue age” of watchmaking is clearly confirmed, and diving into it is a real delight.

Atelier Loiseau - 1f4 Grande Sonnerie Complication

Despite the apparent blue-clad simplicity of the dial, the 1f4 watch is in fact what is known as a Grande Complication. No less than 32 functions are packed into this classic-looking model that is nonetheless entirely in tune with the times thanks to the use of the current it-shade. Automatic winding, striking mechanism, minute repeater, perpetual calendar, leap years, day, month, date, moon phase… and the list goes on! This beautiful blue number is definitely intended for devotees of pure technical refinement.

Why we love it: Because if you get tired of blue, turning the watch over allows you to enjoy a second openworked dial. It notably displays local hours and minutes as well as those of a second time zone, the equation of time, a split-second chronograph with central hands as well as a recall of the striking mechanism power-reserve indication. Its proportions are also aesthetically pleasing, at less than 16.64 mm thick and 45.2 mm in diameter!

Corum - Admiral's Cup Legend 42

Trend_334632_1

The brand has never made a secret of its immoderate taste for everything related to the sea and to sailing. Corum holds to its course with this red gold or steel timepiece clad in metallic blue. It represents a return to roots for the watch and echoes a long-established sense of the avant-garde, since this “gunmetal blue” already clothed the first modern version of the Admiral's Cup Legend 42 in 1983. This distinctive shade obtained by a PVD treatment also adorns the dial, the case and the outer bracelet links.

Why we love it:  Because the 400-piece limited edition Admiral's Cup Legend 42 means you can wear a blue watch and still be original – since this resolutely “Eighties revival” metallic blue has not yet been seen splashed all over watch collections. A fine way of highlighting the essential indications provided: hours, minutes, seconds and a date window.

Girard-Perregaux - 1966 Blue Dial Chronograph

A tribute to the innovative spirit of the House that was duly honoured by Neuchâtel Observatory in 1966 with the award of its Centenary prize, the Girard-Perregaux 1966 collection is one of the brand's iconic models. Revisited to mark the 220th anniversary of the Manufacture, this model has adopted a a sunburst brushed blue dial – an intense colour that strikes an appealing contrast with the white gold case.

Why we love it: For the purity of its lines and its classic style. Carefully staged against the blue dial background, the various indications of the hours, minutes, small seconds, chronograph, as well as a tachometric scale, are as easily visible as a perfectly clear sky.
