The sound show - Ulysse Nardin
With its breathtaking Blast Hourstriker, Ulysse Nardin spreads its high-tech wings to blithely break through the sound barrier

Inspired by stealth aircraft, its faceted case carved from gold and titanium leaves no doubt: this is a highly technical instrument, whose flying tourbillon is only part of its seductive powers. All around it, the 330 components of a new self-winding striking caliber perform a spectacular aerial choreography, which traditionally takes place behind the scenes. On this model, the hour rack, inertia governor and hammers come into action in full sight, on demand or every half-hour, delivering an extraordinary sound thanks to a highly innovative mechanism based on the famous torsion lever presented by Ulysse Nardin in 2019. It is combined with a titanium membrane that harmoniously amplifies the sound, developed in collaboration with the acoustic specialist Devialet (co-founded by a descendant of Ulysse Nardin). The 8 o’clock pusher enables one to switch to stealth mode (on/off at 8 o’clock on the dial) and deactivate the sound, while the crown recharges the strikework barrel by winding it counter-clockwise. The X-factor has struck again!
