Vacheron Constantin Overseas does it again!
Three new variations join the Overseas collection, including one featuring the World Time complication which is ideally useful for keen travelers.
In 1977, the Swiss watch brand launched a steel watch named 222 in reference to its 222nd anniversary. This watch model inspired the Overseas collection launched in 1996 and which is expanding 20 years later.
To celebrate the occasion in due style, Vacheron Constantin is launching three new interpretations of its Overseas world time model with a blue, brown or silver-toned dial, combining practical convenience with with a casually elegant design. The functions of this 7700V model include world time, in this instance providing a display of 37 time zones including those offset by a half-hour or quarter-hour from Coordinated Universal Time (UTC).
The display is divided into three separate parts. The centre features a “Lambert” projection map of the northern hemisphere, with the continents enhanced by a sunburst satin-brushed finish and surrounded by velvet-finished oceans. This map is associated with a second translucent lacquered disc bearing the city names. A third sapphire disc laid over the map presents the day/night indications by means of subtly graded smoky tints, synchronised with the 24-hour disc. Finally, a translucent silver-toned, blue or brown outer ring serves to indicate the hours and minute.
This model is powered by Caliber 2460 WT, a mechanical self-winding movement patented, developed and crafted by the Geneva-based Manufacture. Housed in a 43.5 mm-diameter case, it operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, corresponding to a frequency of 4 Hz. The timepiece also features a 40-hour power reserve. The 22-carat gold oscillating weight is engraved with a wind rose, a universal symbol indicating the cardinal points for travellers. All indications are easily adjustable via the crown.
The steel case fitted with a transparent sapphire back is water-resistant to 150 metres. The 18-carat gold hours and minutes hands are accentuated with a white luminescent coating.
These new Overseas models feature an easy-fit wristband adjustment system, while an ingenious interchangeability device for the straps/bracelets and folding clasp makes it possible to change style and material according to the mood of the moment, with no need for any specific tools. The range includes a first steel bracelet, and a choice of black blue or brown straps in rubber or in Mississipiensis alligator leather.
Overseas for women
The Overseas small model is designed and crafted for women. The 37 mm-diameter case of this timepiece is set with 84 round diamonds totalling more than one carat. At the heart of the case beats the new Caliber 5300 developed by Vacheron Constantin. This mechanical self-winding movement with a two-day power reserve drives the hours, minutes, small seconds at 9 o’clock. Also delivered with three interchangeable bracelet/straps and an interchangeable folding clasp or buckle, this model is bound to appeal to women with a penchant for Fine Watchmaking.
An exploration of the history of Vacheron Constantin is a voyage of discovery, revealing the excellence of age-old watchmaking. Each timepiece is the result of the creative inspiration of the watchmaker or craftsman, dedicating their knowhow to the birth of outstanding watches. The Manufacture also works within a social and environmental code of ethics, and has had Responsible Jewellery Council certification since 2012.Find out more >
