2014, a daring and colourful year - Vulcain
1 minute read
This year, Vulcain has introduced a range of colourful models naturally mingling tradition with trends.

Known for its iconic models and its unique mechanical movements, the Manufacture Vulcain holds a place of its own within the world of Haute Horlogerie.
The brand based in Le Locle has been active since 1858 in the creation of timepieces meeting the varying demands of the successive eras it has crossed. Innovating in order to offer products with a future; exploring the rich history of Vulcain so as to perpetuate its expertise and reveal its original character: such are the fundamental principles guiding the Manufacture.

In addition to the Cricket alarm calibre, the Manufacture has succeeded in establishing its stature by offering models combining classicism and slenderness, in harmony with its history.
Nonetheless, Vulcain has decided this year to opt for a deliberately daring approach by introducing a range of colourful models naturally mingling tradition with trends.

The most representative example is the extension of the 50s Presidents’ Watch Manual featuring new raspberry and tobacco-toned dials. The watches are equipped with alligator leather straps – whether shiny raspberry, pearly brown, matt black or chestnut brown with hazelnut-brown spaces between the scales. They house the manually-wound Vulcain alarm movement and are available in gem-set or non-set versions.

2014 also spells a return to ladies’ models for Vulcain. Harking back to the 1920s, when the Manufacture produced various models with this clientele in mind, the brand offers today the First Lady Automatic, a new classic range in refined, feminine colours, including occasionally unexpected variations such as the chocolate or ivory-toned models.

This colourful trend is also showcased in the Aviator Instrument Chronograph from the 2014 men’s collection, as well as in the latest version of its legendary Nautical Seventies, developed for the Vulcain Trophy 2014 and offered in 35-piece limited series.
