Since he is both too modest and too busy to write about himself, Aurel Bacs has allowed us to describe him. He is considered to be the absolute reference in watch auctions, having fallen under the spell of vintage watches from a very early age. The art of living and the history of art and watchmaking are the main drivers in his work for the world's biggest watch collectors. From a purely statistical point of view, his hammer has already sealed the sale of over one billion Swiss francs' worth of exceptional timepieces. Paradoxically, though, he is more focused on quality and rarity, which have become his watchwords - so much so, in fact, that he preferred to leave the prestigious Christie's auction house in 2015, since its strategy no longer coincided with his philosophy. He then managed to convince the Phillips auction house to create a watch department in the form of a joint-venture managed by him and his wife Livia Russo: Phillips, in association with Bacs & Russo. A passionate entrepreneur, Aurel Bacs is also president of the jury of the Geneva Watchmaking Grand Prix.
