As I am not a handyman at all, it was not in taking apart my grandfather’s alarm clocks that a passion for watches hit me in the face like a suddenly released spring. Instead, as a student with eclectic taste in clothing, I saw the initial Swatch watches as a totally must-have, original accessory. Over the years, the models and brands developed in sync with the buying power of “a dynamic young executive”, who himself morphed into a pen-wielding entrepreneur – another distinctly more affordable passion opening up far wider horizons. Watchmaking and writing. Passion with a capital P united these two passions for the first time with an eight-page article on erotic watches published in 1998 in issue N° 28 of Montres Magazine and which sowed the seeds of good fortune. Two years later, GMT was born, followed by Skippers, Mountain Addict, Yacht Investor…After 15 Baselworld and SIHH events, I still go back for more watchmaking dessert in the shape of other watch shows such as Belles Montres, Salon QP, SIAR and Timecrafters.
