Cloisonné enamel

Enamelled pieces in which the outlines of the designs or figures are separated by partitions made of small metal wires into which the enamel is placed. Cloisonné enamels are also made by treating the metal surfaces with acids that eat certain parts of the metal while leaving the wires to protrude.
