Dior

Profoundly influenced by the vision of its founder, Dior develops timepieces with a distinctive aesthetic identity. It offers artistic, technical collections in a consistent range of timepieces that leave creativity plenty of free rein.

About

In 1947 Christian Dior founded his business of the same name in a mansion on avenue Montaigne, Paris. He went on to design radically avant-garde ladies' collections.

As early as the 1950s, he expanded his business to perfumes. He was a visionary, and set off to conquer the United States – where he organised the first fashion shows abroad, with the help of his own public relations offices.

He was so successful that in 1957, he alone was responsible for over half of France's haute couture exports worldwide. For the next three decades, Dior significantly developed its collections and renown, creating its first line of watches in 1975.

The Dior Watchmaking Workshops, founded in 2001 in La Chaux-de-Fonds at the heart of the watchmaking region of Switzerland, enjoy a special relationship with the design studios in Paris' 8th district. They have enlisted the help of the best specialists in their field: movement designers, dial makers, jewel setters and more. Their close collaboration has borne fruit in five Dior Horlogerie collections: D de Dior in 2003, Chiffre Rouge in 2004, Dior Christal in 2005, Dior Grand Soir in 2010 and Dior VIII in 2011.

Collections

Chiffre Rouge

Created in 2004, Chiffre Rouge embodies Dior's men's watchmaking. It draws its inspiration directly from Dior Homme in a concentration of every aspect of the graphic standard: asymmetry, red, and distinctive ‘scars'.

Dior Christal

The Dior Christal collection, created in 2005, is a tribute to Christian Dior's colourist talent. The central decorative feature is the pyramid-shaped sapphire crystal, tinted with bright colours.

Dior Grand Soir

The watches in the Dior Grand Soir collection, created in 2010, are exceptional timepieces, combining all the creativity, breadth and refined, sophisticated register of Dior with that of watchmaking.

Dior VIII

Dior VIII, the firm's most recent watch collection, draws its inspiration from Dior's taste for architecture, resulting in elegant, timeless, graphic lines. Mirroring a lady's wardrobe, it features “daytime”, “cocktail” and “evening” versions.

La D de Dior

Designed by Victoire de Castellane in 2003 and drawing its inspiration from a 1970s men's watch, the D de Dior combines femininity with jeweller's expertise. It brings together diamonds, precious stones and ornamental gems.
