  • About Harry Winston

Founded in New York City in 1932, Harry Winston is one of the most prestigious fine watchmaking and jewelry brands in the world.  Its history is studded with some of the most famous jewels in the world, including the Lesotho, Jonker and Taylor-Burton diamonds.  Synonymous with the most magnificent jewels throughout its history, the Winston name has been linked to more of the world's famous gemstones than any other outside the British Crown.  Known as “The King of Diamonds”, Mr. Winston donated the most famous diamond in the world, the Hope Diamond, to the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. in 1958.

The avant-garde, innovative alchemy blending knowhow and design that has been pursued by Harry Winston has revolutionized the world of fine jewelry.  The Cluster setting technique is a vibrant illustration of this. Today as ever, the brand's designers are imbued with boundless creativity, leaving free rein to the imagination – backed by fascinating craftsmanship.  The biggest stars have been lighting up the red carpet with Harry Winston's creations since 1944. That was the year Jennifer Jones made movie history by winning the best actress Oscar, and jewelry history by being the first to wear jewelry loaned by Harry Winston.  Since then, Harry Winston has been putting Hollywood's glamour in the spotlight and established itself as the jeweller to the stars.

Building on its sound reputation in jewellery creativity and innovation, the Harry Winston brand decided to go into watchmaking in 1989.  From the most stunning gem-set watches to high complication timepieces Harry Winston is has been pursuing the Firm's its quest for excellence. True to the brand's spirit, Harry Winston has placed it watchmaking division squarely in the tradition of its legendary jewelry expertise, being synonymous with authentic and rare luxury, with no compromising on either technical or aesthetic quality. This discipline has earned Harry Winston a large number of international awards.

Each timepieces collection – audacious, complex, avant-garde, for men or for ladies – is an ambassador for fine watchmaking.  Pursuing its commitment to push the boundaries of haute horlogerie with creativity and audacity, , Harry Winston opened its own manufacture in 2007 in Geneva, Switzerland, the watchmaking capital of the world.

Of all its collections, one in particular continues to defy expectations, creating annual anticipation within the world of Haute Horlogerie: the Opus series Launched in 2001, Opus is the story of partnerships between the brand and the most talented and innovative watchmakers.  Each Opus timepiece represents a collaborative journey to reinvent the concept of telling time through revolutionary designs, innovative movements, and complication never before introduced in the watchmaking industry.
