Romain Gauthier was born in 1975 in the Joux Valley. It was in the heart of this watchmaking valley that he developed his passion for traditional fine watchmaking – combining contemporary design and microengineering. After studying precision mechanics, Romain Gauthier was awarded his diploma as a precision machine builder.
In 1997, he took up a position as a CNC programmer in a large firm in the Valley. He was so committed to the development of this position that within the space of just a few years, he turned it into one of the best equipped CNC departments in Europe!
Still driven by the desire to create his own watch brand, Romain Gauthier earned his MBA with distinction in 2002 – the subject of his end-of-study dissertation being “The business plan for Romain Gauthier Watches”.
Following his studies he began to work on his watches, concentrating from the outset on the design of their movements. In 2006, after having worked for four years in complete discretion, Romain Gauthier launched his own-name brand by presenting his first model, the Prestige HM, for which the movement is manufactured by the Firm. The Prestige HMS came out in 2012, followed by the avant-garde Logical One in 2013.
