  • About Speake-Marin

Speake-Marin is a watchmaking brand named after its founder, Peter Speake-Marin. His career in watchmaking began in 1985, when he began training at Hackney Technical College in London, aged 17.

Speake-Marin very soon specialised in watch restoration, discovering the secrets of English pocket watches. For Peter, restoring old watches became a never-ending source of inspiration.

When he moved to Switzerland a few years later, he worked with leading watchmaking manufactures such as Renaud & Papi and Harry Winston.

At the turn of the millennium, Peter Speake-Marin presented his first creation, a pocket watch known as the “Foundation Watch”, equipped with a tourbillon, with a cage bridge design inspired by the shape of the wheel on an old watchmaking lathe. Ten years later this was to become the logo of the Speake-Marin brand.

Later, Peter Speake-Marin presented a new collection, and dubbed its case “Piccadilly”. His style and design can be described as British contemporary classic.

The Firm is known and recognised for its unique timepieces, combining technical prowess, aesthetic classicism and craftsmanship with his engraved and sculpted enamel and maki-e lacquer dials.

In 2012 the launch of the new ”Piccadilly Collection” (named after its case) provided fresh impetus, comprising the Serpent Calendar, Resilience, HMS, and most recently Spirit.

  • Speake-Marin's philosophy

The guiding philosophy of Speake-Marin is to create timepieces that symbolise durability in terms of both their technical qualities and their aesthetic appearance. The Manufacture is committed to its independence and craftsmanship, designing all its timepieces in-house and producing only limited editions or bespoke watches.

There are very few watchmaking firms capable of bringing together the English watchmaking school and Swiss excellence. Speake-Marin is an inventor of watches with a strong personal aesthetic touch. Each timepiece receives the personal attention of the watchmaker, who also makes it possible to customise certain details on watches to match the buyer's project.
