When you do find the perfect watch, don’t settle for less than the best possible experience when you buy it.
There has never been a better time to buy a watch than today.
There are so many companies making such high quality timepieces, you can certainly find the perfect watch for you.
But when you do find that perfect watch, don’t settle for less than the best possible experience when you buy it.
With all the competition out there today, it’s unacceptable to receive anything less than excellent service across the board.
This applies equally to:
Design: when you are looking at watches, look at the design carefully. Make sure it all works together to give you a good feeling. Put the watch on and make sure it feels perfect. If you think the case rubs your wrist in the wrong place, or you think the pushers of the chronograph hurt when you press them, pick another watch. If you don’t like the touch of orange on the bezel, or the strap doesn’t feel right, find something else.
There are thousands of watches on the market today, so don’t settle for anything that is less than exactly what you want.
Price: There are excellent, high quality watches at every price point across the board. Decide how much you can spend and stick to that. Your local retailer will propose various possibilities within your price range, and don’t be surprised if they suggest something slightly higher, just to give you an idea of what is available for a bit more money.
Don’t let anyone push you to spend an amount you are uncomfortable with. If they do, go somewhere else.
Warranty: Most watch companies offer at least a two year warranty. There are some watches companies that go up to 11 years! So, if you don’t like the length of the warranty, say something. If it’s important to you, it should be important to your retailer.
Customer Service: The sales person in your retailer should be able to answer any and all questions you have, and answer them correctly. If they can’t do that, or the answers they give you are confusing, incomplete or don’t make sense, go somewhere else. A retailer should have experienced people who know what they are talking about – after all, watches are technical products that require explanation on their use, how to care for them and more. Make sure you are dealing with someone who knows, and if you aren’t, find someone who knows.
After Sales Service: Any watch you buy will eventually need service. If it’s a quartz watch, it will need a battery change at some point, and if it’s a mechanical watch, you are looking at about five year service intervals. Make sure that the retailer you are working with can handle the service requirements. Any quality retailer should be able to service the products they sell. You wouldn’t buy a new car from a car dealer that couldn’t service it, would you?
Price: Don’t buy based solely on price. Watches are, by and large, priced correctly and in order for retailers to be successful, and to provide the service you demand, they need to make a profit. You need to deal with retailers who are authorized to sell the watches they have and that internet site that has a better price is not authorized and shouldn’t even be considered.

Don’t settle for less than the best in each and every area. No matter how much you are spending, the experience should be flawless. If anything is off, head for the door.
Make a statement with your wallet.
They’ll get the message.
