Baselworld - The watchmaking company extends its range with the new TNT Royal La Retro Power Reserve and GrandCliff Pure.

Pierre DeRoche is known for its exclusive complications. The family ties between Dubois-Dépraz movements and Pierre Dubois, CEO and founder of Pierre DeRoche watches, have naturally led the young brand created in 2004 to play the card of a top-flight creative watchmaking based on original complications.

“The only way for small brands like ours without a substantial marketing budget to be noticed in the long term is to offer very different timepieces” emphasises Pierre Dubois, quoting figures to back his statement. “In our nine years of existence, we have presented 11 movements”. Amongst these is the one driving the sporty Royal Retro which has become one of the brand’s bestsellers since its launch in 2009, with its six famous retrograde hands that take turns in marking off the 60 seconds in each minute. The new TNT Royal Retro Power Reserve, offered in a 201-piece limited edition, is vivid proof of Pierre DeRoche’s desire to develop this exclusive calibre that has become a company signature. With the addition of a power-reserve display at 6 o’clock, the dance of the second hands is only visible for 40 seconds and becomes a mystery for 20 seconds during which it remains hidden behind the mechanism of the new complication.“This piece responds to two challenges – a technical one obviously, but also a philosophical challenge that involves making connoisseurs appreciate the fact that nothing happens on the dial for 20 seconds” explains Pierre Dubois.

In contrast to the TNT line and the virile codes of the Royal Retro Power Reserve, Pierre DeRoche springs a surprise by using classic design codes that have not been seen before in his collections. “The GrandCliff Pure is a new development for our watches,” comments Pierre DuBois. “Its main characteristics are less technicality, along with greater simplicity and sobriety.” Designed to fulfil the growing demand from Asian customers eager for simple, understated watches, this collection is distinguished by the minimalist design of dials matching the roundness of the 40 mm stainless steel case. “Our brand philosophy being to offer complications, the GrandCliff Pure is a very simple watch that nonetheless feature two small complications: the date and the power reserve”. A model well worth discovering and available with a choice of six black or white dials.
