Blancpain is pleased to share the savoir-faire dedicated to the recently launched Villeret Complete Calendar

Heritage

Historical context

Following the introduction of quartz in 1969, the Swiss mechanical industry entered in a period known as "Quartz crisis".

Blancpain's bold vision

In the early 1980s, Blancpain chose the opposite path, reaffirming the emotional and artisanal value of mechanical watchmaking.

The birth of the Villeret with the moon phase

Launched in 1983, the complete calendar moon phase stood against quartz and established the founding codes of the Villeret collection.

Mastery of high complications: The 6 Masterpieces & the 1735

Blancpain advanced the most prestigious complications, culminating in the iconic 1735.

A heritage carried forward: The Modern Villeret

Dial savoir-faire © Blancpain

Dial

A Color Achieved Through a Long and Demanding Process

The dial’s shade is the result of a meticulous process involving five successive baths:

- Two washing baths, ensuring purity and the perfect preparation of the surface.

- Three galvanic baths, enabling the achievement of a deep and perfectly even color.

An Invisible Yet Essential Nobility

The final galvanic bath is composed of gold superior to 18 carats, endowing the dial with unparalleled richness and chromatic depth.

A sunray-finished dial

The dial comes to life thanks to Blancpain celebrated sunray finish, which creates an engaging play of light, enhanced by the contrasting date ring.

One of the Most Rigorous Quality Controls in Watchmaking

The dials meet the industry’s strictest criteria in terms of thickness and flatness. Each Villeret Quantième Complet is individually inspected eight times – at every step– by a human.
