We popped into the Christie’s Geneva office to meet with watch specialist Mathieu Ruffat, who gave us a sneak preview of three important watches that are going to be in the sale

Kari Voutilainen Lot 63

In this video we take a look at three timepieces, starting with the Lot 63, which is a Kari Voutilainen Observatory Limited Edition in a platinum case. It is powered by the Calibre Peseux 260 movement, which was originally developed solely for testing accuracy (it is precise to only tenths of a second per week). As chance would have it, Voutilainen found several of these observatory movements, which he then used to make a very limited series of timepieces, of which this model is one of them. It comes with this elegant blue dial with a mix of Roman and Arabic numerals. This is the first time this watch has come up for auction with an estimate of CHF 50,000 to 100,000.
