With a new blue and white livery and an exclusive new movement, the Jacob & Co. Epic X Chrono Tourbillon is ready for an adventure

When it comes to luxury sports watches, the Jacob & Co. Epic X Chrono Tourbillon has all its bases covered – cool design, serious Haute Horlogerie mechanics, and a water-resistance of 200 metres. Most watch collectors wouldn’t dream of swimming with a tourbillon, but with this timepiece, not only can you get it wet, but you can go scuba diving with it too!

Ready to Dive

With superior water resistance, screwed-in crowns, and a rotating inner minute bezel, the Epic X is ready to ready to plunge into the sea. The rotating inner minute bezel is activated via the pusher at 10 o’clock and acts as a countdown timer. The last 10 minutes of the ring are in black to indicate when its owner should resurface for air.

Big, Bold, and Comfortable

The Jacob & Co. Epic X collection is defined by its X-shaped lugs and dial appliques that cross the watch, giving the timepiece its unmistakable design. It is large at 47mm, but not as large as it sounds, thanks to a sloped bezel and smaller aperture for the dial that brings an ergonomic fit to the wrist.

High-Tech Materials

Like with previous Epic X versions, high-tech materials come into play with this new model. The titanium case has been entirely coated with blue PVD and satin-finished in different directions, depending on the shape of each part of the complex case. There is a circular finish on the bezel, for example, while the pusher guards have been polished with a horizontal finish. This deep-blue aesthetic is not only a question of design, however, it also brings an extra layer of toughness to the surface of the watch, an important advantage for a sports watch.

In addition to the blue case, white touches adorn the case with the crown, pushers, and side inlays of the lugs all crafted from white ceramic. These elements are beautifully paired with the hour and minute hands and the chronograph hands which are skeletonized and also in white.

Into the Blue

The dial comes in a translucent blue with the chronograph counters in a bi-compax format with a 30-minute counter at three o’clock and a small-second indicator at nine o’clock. The central second hand in red indicates the chronograph seconds. A one-minute flying tourbillon completes the picture at six o’clock. The tourbillon cage is of particular note as it is openworked and shaped in the form of a crescent, bringing it to the level of the dial and introducing lightness to the design.

High-End Watchmaking

This latest Jacob & Co. Epic X Chrono Tourbillon is powered by an exclusive new movement – the Calibre JCAA09 – featuring hours, minutes, a column- wheel chronograph (two pushers), a flying tourbillon, and a countdown timer. The level of finishing on the movement is on par with any haute horlogerie timepiece with polishing and horizontal graining as well as circular graining and angling. An anthracite rotor bears a “Jacob & Co. Genève” red-lacquered engraving and is covered by a coloured mineral glass in the same hue as the dial. A second sapphire crystal covers the case back for ultimate protection.

When it comes to luxury sports watches, it doesn’t get more sporty, or more luxurious than this. With only 99 pieces available, something tells us that they are all going to be taking off for the beach very soon!
