The 15th annual Salón Internacional Alta Relojería México (SIAR) celebrated regional watch enthusiasts’ loyalty and passion. This event has had a strong hand in creating and nurturing a watch community. 52 leading names revealed their new releases to hundreds of visitors that gathered at The St. Regis Mexico City from October 19 to 21. Fusing historic and independent brands this exclusive Salon puts collector and end customer experience on center stage.
“In Mexico the watch industry relies on local–not foreign–customers and this is key to strengthen the industry on the long run. SIAR has been a leading actor, but without brands and distributors trust, jeweler and media support none of this is possible,” said Carlos Alonso, CEO of SIAR. “There will always be challenges, but on this 15th edition we celebrated our success as a community, achieved through team work.”

“The watch industry in Mexico has stoically endured the coronavirus pandemic, the greatest obstacle in decades, and judging from this year’s SIAR, it will come out renewed,” he added. “After twenty years of economic stability, we have been able to build the foundations of our industry and we can now reap the rewards.”

SIAR once again stood in the center of the global spotlight of the watch market–like it has done since its foundation in 2007. New releases made their worldwide debut, and visitors saw limited editions for the local market.
“People visiting SIAR aren’t interested in commercially available collections. They’re on the lookout for brands and products with solid value, future stability and increasing value. Participating brands understand this and bring creative, valuable, and unique watches,” said Carlos Alonso.
SIAR draws brands which value connecting with end customers in a market that depend on local sales, in-site purchases and knowledgeable collectors. The Salon witnessed the debut of Russian independent maisons Konstantin Chaykin and Raketa. Breitling also debuted and introduced the vintage inspired chronograph Premier B15 Duograph 42. BA111OD launched Chapter 4 The Veblen Dilemma, an incredibly affordable manual wind tourbillon. Louis Erard presented a unique triptych co-created with watchmaker Alain Silberstein, and Kross Studio debuted playful Star Wars and Space Jam inspired tourbillons.

The Swiss Independent Watchmakers Pavilion (SIWP) made its debut in Mexico. In keeping with promoting Swiss watchmaking expertise and culture it brought eight brands: Adriatica, David Van Heim, Greco Genève, Mathey-Tissot, Moya, Ollivier Savéo, Phenomen y Pilo & Co. Genève.
