2000-2022 200 pages. Over 500 images. Countless experts.

For the third official volume in this series, The Millennium Watch Book is focusing on the essential companion for journeys to the depths of the seas: the mechanical dive watch.

Diving watches have, for many years, been essential for professional divers to undertake exploring the oceans. In the 21st century, the diver’s watch took many forms as collectors wore them on the shores as much as underwater.

The Millennium Watch Book: Diver’s Watch Edition explores that transition from a pure tool watch to an essential part of a watch aficionado’s collection, which really evolved in the new millennium.

Much like its previous volumes (Tourbillons in 2021, and the original Millennium Watch Book in 2020 that started it all), the editorial committee, headed by GMT Publishing’s Director Brice Lechevalier, has retained its XXL coffee-table book approach for this volume.

The Millennium Watch Book is back for 2022!

Inside its pages, readers will find the editorial committee’s picks of 50 imperative diving watches produced since the year 2000 to know about, a chapter dedicated to the technicity of diving watches and another on professional divers and free divers that frequently use mechanical diving watches. Experts also analyse the explosion of diving watches on the vintage and Certified Pre-Owned market, and even look forward to the future with a retrospective on what’s still possible to develop in the next 10 years in this rich segment of the watchmaking industry.

Fans of the Rolex Submariner will not only find the reference on the cover, but a whole chapter dedicated to the piece and its influence in making a “tool” watch into a “cool”, luxury accessory. And special spreads were also dedicated to the Blancpain’s Fifty Fathoms and Panerai’s Submersible—timepieces that each defined and redefined the concept of a diver’s watch.

For this volume, the editorial committee sought input from new experts, such as Jason Heaton (The New York Times, Gear Patrol, Revolution, Hodinkee), Justin Mastine-Frost (SHARP Magazine, Esquire, High Snobiety, Robb Report), and Ken Kessler (The Wall Street Journal, Revolution, Telegraph Luxury). Slated for publication in November 2022, readers can pre-order The Millennium Watch Book: Diver’s Watches on www.the-watch-book.com with a favourable rate for early birds!

The Millennium Watch Book Collection (until 2030!) Following the success of the first volume, The Millennium Watch Book, in 2020, GMT Publishing decided to expand the idea to a collection, publishing one thematic book a year until 2030. 2021 was focused on the evolution of the tourbillon, for the mechanism’s 220th anniversary, and more will be revealed over the next chapters of this XXL collection.

The ideal gift for lovers of beautiful mechanical watches, you can purchase Volume 0 and Volume 1 on www.the-watch-book.com and complete your collection with Volume 2 at a pre-order rate!
