Regularly transitioning from pontoons to watch Manufactures and the other way round definitely broadens one’s horizons. Switzerland in general and Geneva in particular is magnificently suited to these two areas of preference.

As I am not a handyman at all, it was not in taking apart my grandfather’s alarm clocks that a passion for watches hit me in the face like a suddenly released spring. Instead, as a student with eclectic taste in clothing, I saw the initial Swatch watches as a totally must-have, original accessory. Over the years, the models and brands developed in sync with the buying power of “a dynamic young executive”, who himself morphed into a pen-wielding entrepreneur – another distinctly more affordable passion opening up far wider horizons. Watchmaking and writing. Passion with a capital P united these two passions for the first time with an eight-page article on erotic watches published in 1998 in issue N° 28 of Montres Magazine and which sowed the seeds of good fortune. Two years later, GMT was born, followed by Skippers, Mountain Addict, Yacht Investor…After 18 Baselworld and SIHH events, I still go back for more watchmaking dessert in the shape of other watch shows such as Belles Montres, Salon QP, SIAR and Timecrafters.
