A watch with hours, minutes and seconds hands, combined with a mechanism that controls a chronograph hand which is usually located at the centre of the dial. The chronograph hand can be started, stopped and returned to zero by means of the pushbuttons. The hand makes one full turn each minute while a second hand, known as a counter hand, adds up the number of turns, in other words minutes, generally at intervals of 30, 45 and 60 minutes.
