New distributor for Japan

The Misuzu Corporation of Japan has started Japanese distribution of Hysek watches.

Dr. Haruhisa Handa is no stranger to the pages of WorldTempus, since he is the "atypical collector" we interviewed earlier this year. But Dr. Handa is a man who wears many hats, both as the founder of the Misuzu Corporation in 1978, a promoter of various sports through the International Sports Promotion Society (ISPS) and as an accomplished artist and opera singer.

The Misuzu Corporation has been a distributor of watches in Japan since 1979, covering some 140 different brands. But more recently, Handa has taken steps to extend his high-end watch distribution operations, including opening new stores in upscale districts of Tokyo. As part of his plans, he acquired the Swiss Jaermann & Stübi brand earlier this year, whose golf-themed watches mesh perfectly with Handa's passion for golf (he is a fervent supporter of blind golf and founder of the Japan Blind Golf Association).

At a ceremony on 26 July in Tokyo, Handa's appointment as president of Jaermann & Stübi was officially announced, as was the new distribution agreement with Hysek. On the photo he can be seen proudly showing off Hysek's distinctive IO skeleton tourbillon model, flanked by models wearing the brand's feminine Kalysta timepieces.
