This week the F1 circus hits the Spanish capital Madrid for the first time. Could you think of a better occasion to launch the new chapter of TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Sport?

So, what is new in the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Sport in 2026, TAG Heuer’s chronograph collection which has roots back to 1963?

Correlating with classical colors of the roaring F1 cars, the new offer comes in four different colors: Black, green, blue and silver. The case has shrunk from 44 to 42 mm, and the brushed case with some polished highlights add a technical, modern character.  The contemporary evolution also goes for the updated H-link bracelet, which has a stronger look and improved ergonomics.

The watch case has also become thinner – from 15.48mm to 14.17mm, which makes the watch more wearable and gives it an aerodynamic touch. This reduction strategy also goes with the lug-to-lug measurement, moving from 49.8mm to 48.6mm, which again improves the ergonomics with a more universal size.

Also worth noting is the steel cradle of the tachymeter, which now has a ceramic insert.

The tri compax layout is more clear, whether in all-black or with contrasting subdials. And the dial colors with, for instance sunray finish, are also present with a color-matching ring on the base of the piston-like pushers.

TAG Heuer has been involved in Formula 1 since 1987, and thus it makes perfect sense that the launch of the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Sport takes place during the Madrid Grand Prix, where TAG Heuer is the Title Partner of the race and Official Timekeeper of Formula 1. With this launch, as the brand wrote in a press statement, “the Maison continues to write its racing story in one of Europe’s most charged urban settings, with Madrid providing the backdrop for a launch built on speed, precision, and competitive drive.”

The Carrera Chronograph saga began with slightly slower cars back in 1963 when Jack Heuer introduced a watch designed for professional drivers at the Carrera Panamericana race in Mexico. The foundation back then was the same as today: Legibility at full speed. Clarity. Performance. In fact, Performance combined with elegance – throughout its many interpretations in seven decades the Carrera was always the kind of racing watch you could proudly wear to the after-race cocktail.

So, there is really only one problem with this new offer. Which one should you choose. Which color do you prefer in the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Sport? I like the black, especially since it is combined with red hands for the chronograph function only. I love such functional design.

Last but not least: Don’t miss the race on Sunday Sep 13.
