On the occasion of the 5th edition of the International Forum of Contemporary Knives, Reuge and bladesmith Alain Valette unveiled "Suspense", a knife housing a miniature music movement with 17 notes.

After several years of studying and testing, 56 years old Alain Valette, renowned bladesmith and creator of unique knives for some 32 years (autodidact since 1986), unveils his latest creation at the International Forum of Contemporary Knives. Called "Suspense", this knife features a brand new component: a miniature mechanical musical movement with 17 notes.

When pushing on the button on the side, the blade will slowly be opening while the musical knife “Suspense” plays the melody "Kleine Nachtmusik" from Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Every time you fold the blade back-in, the movement is again charged.

Larger than the previous one (36 notes) also playing the “Kleine Nachtmusik” melody, this bespoke music box made of bur walnut wood was specially developed by Reuge, leader of mechanical music and automatons.

As one would expect from Alain Valette, he only used the finest materials available for this piece: high quality stainless damascus steel for the blade, carefully selected and highly polished amboyna burl with satin finishing for the hilt and fine woven sheets made in brass and bronze and epoxy resin (allure) for the bolster.
