The Boucheron “Ronde” collection, which was launched in 2005, quickly became a classic – its assets are a perfect reflection of the House's essential values. This year, in order to extend its selection of retro-chic watches, it is simultaneously introducing a chronograph and an automatic, two quintessentially timeless pieces designed to appeal to enlightened amateurs eager to find an expression of the House's best in the classic yet intense lines of an ancient watch-making heritage. In addition, Boucheron is further enriching its curiosity cabinet with the stunning Bestiaire Seconde Folle Ronde collection.

Created for lovers of beautiful shapes – in a word, for those who love to collect all sorts of objets d'art – the new automatic chronograph in the “Ronde” collection is characterized by a delightfully retro style. With its 43 mm steel or rose gold gadroon case, it embodies – for men and women with a keen sense for designs combining simplicity and marked identity, for a certain idea of “fifties” elegance. To the touch, the pieces' delicate embossing is bound to awaken one's sensuality, with shapes and volumes clearly evocative of House of Boucheron essentials. In contrast, to grace this exceptional timekeeper with a touch of Parisian pizzazz, Boucheron decided to adorn the case sides with a geometric pattern known as “Clou de Paris”, one of the House's favourite. By capturing the light as a diamond point would, the graphic frieze, reminiscent of knurling, will remind the gentleman who drives classic cars of certain handcrafted dashboard controls. Equally subliminal is the ellipse, a true visual signature for the first House to open shop on Place Vendôme: it features on the back of the piece, in the form of a sapphire crystal revealing the self-winding mechanical movement. Out of consideration and pride for the expert craftsmanship within, Boucheron chose to grace this model with an oscillating weight with a mashrabiya pattern likely to awaken a yearning for the Orient in the heart of any weathered traveller. This unusually elegant instrument for a man of the world comes in steel with a charcoal-grey dial or rose gold with an opaline silvered background. It is very much a dress watch, worn on a hand-sewn alligator leather strap; its only concession to sportiveness is that it can serve to time any coup d'éclat the wearer happens to witness. Born from a subtle alchemy of modernity and classicism, it reflects the aspirations of true aesthetes with a feel for the codes and values of luxury that is neither ostentatious nor ephemeral.
