In 2008, Montres Breguet presided over the rebirth of a gem of French neoclassical architecture: the Petit Trianon. This year, the watch brand is perpetuating its support for the Château de Versailles as patron of the exhibition held in the Grand Trianon from July 8th to September 9th 2011 and entitled "Le XVIIIè au goût du jour, couturiers et créateurs de mode au Grand Trianon" (The 18th century back in fashion, couturiers and designers at the Grand Trianon).
This exhibition is dedicated to the influence of the Age of Enlightenment on contemporary fashion. Between haute couture and ready-to-wear, fifty models by the great designers of the 20th century dialogue with costumes and accessories from the 18th century and show how this century is quoted with constant interest. French culture illuminated the 18th century, influencing all European courts and vividly embodied by such arbiters of taste as Madame de Pompadour, Madame Du Barry and even more so Marie-Antoinette - a faithful customer of the renowned watchmaker Abraham-Louis Breguet.
Soon after its founding in 1775, the Greguet watch company became the benchmark in the field of Fine Watchmaking. Throughout its rich history, it has successfully preserved the essential values - beauty, elegance and perfect mastery of Grandes Complications - inspired by its founder A.-L. Breguet, to whom we owe numerous milestone inventions including the tourbillon. Through its heritage, its constancy and its vitality, Breguet had maintained its exceptional rank within the watchmaking world. It has a peerless history and continues to exercise a genuine technical and artistic influence, thereby playing a distinctive role in the field of European culture.
