Karl Scheufele Receives the “Hommage à la Passion” Award

At an emotional ceremony, Mr. Karl Scheufele, Chairman of the Chopard Holding group, was presented with the “Hommage à la Passion” prize awarded by an independent jury of specialized watch journalists and designed to recognize the managerial vision and the personal career of an individual devoted to serving the contemporary watch industry.

The ceremony was held in Chopard's Geneva headquarters. Since 2008, an independent jury composed of specialized watch journalists has presented this prize rewarding the passion of a professional, their vision, and accomplishments in the watchmaking field.
Gabriel Tortella, founder of the Tribune des Arts magazine, recalled the exceptional work accomplished by Karl Scheufele and his wife Karin since 1963 when they took over Chopard – a small company with just five employees at the time. He also emphasized the discretion, the elegance and the passion of the man behind a company that now employs 1,700 people and operates 120 boutiques around the world.
A Family Story
The intimate and emotional ceremony was attended by Karl Scheufele's children and current Chopard Co-Presidents Karl-Friedrich and Caroline, along with his wife Karin and members of the jury. In his acceptance speech, Karl Scheufele took a look back at the history of his family, a dynasty of watchmaker-jewelers from Germany, and then at some of the key Chopard milestones since 1963. He also thanked his wife, as well as his children, who have successfully diversified the brand's activities and contributed to earning it global acclaim. The passion lives on…
