For the first time, the Swiss luxury watch manufacturer launches a set of boutique tokens in Switzerland. Anyone visiting one of IWC’s boutiques in Zurich, Schaffhausen or Geneva will receive a token and can become a member of the community. In addition, a new points system ensures that the most exclusive rewards – so-called “utilities” – are reserved for the most loyal and active members.
At the Watches and Wonders exhibition in the spring of 2022, IWC Schaffhausen launched a pioneering foray into the metaverse. At the heart of this Web3 initiative is the IWC Diamond Hand Club - one of the first tokenbased communities in the Swiss luxury watch industry. Each Diamond Hand Club membership is connected to the ownership of a digital token. If this token takes the form of an NFT (non-fungible token), it exists only once and can neither be duplicated nor forged. Based on blockchain technology, this concept has also established itself in digital art.
The boutique token makes it easy to get started
As a first and for a limited time only, IWC is now launching a set of boutique tokens in Switzerland. These tokens will enable more technology-savvy watch lovers to discover the advantages of the Diamond Hand Club. Anyone who visits one of the IWC boutiques in Zurich, Schaffhausen or Geneva can claim a boutique token. Each token looks like a different part of the distinctive conical crown on the Big Pilot’s Watch. Suppose someone visits two or even three boutiques, the collected tokens will merge into a new one. The more tokens someone has, the more attractive benefits and rewards they have access to.
A new point system in the Diamond Hand Club
To ensure exclusivity despite increasing members in the Diamond Hand Club, IWC is simultaneously introducing a points system. This system guarantees that access to the most valuable “utilities” is reserved for the most loyal and active members in the community. Each member will earn a defined number of points for various activities and interactions with IWC - for example visiting IWC at Watches and Wonders in Geneva, participating in certain events or purchasing selected timepieces. The more points one collects, the more valuable the physical or virtual rewards one can claim will be. Collecting points is worthwhile as already planned for 2023, for example, are tours of IWC’s manufacturing centre, watchmaking classes and purchase options for rare watches like the Ingenieur Automatic 40.
Unique events for members around the world
Members of the Diamond Hand Club enjoy privileged access to the world of IWC. Renowned architect Hani Rashid has designed a dedicated 3D space in the metaverse, where IWC regularly organises “Watch Talks” or product presentations for members. Equally noteworthy are invitations to unique events around the world. Since the launch of the community, members have been invited to a private concert with film music composer Hans Zimmer in Geneva, received tickets to Watches and Wonders, or were recently able to watch the “IWC Chrono” Basketball Challenge with Lewis Hamilton live in Miami.
