Glashütte Original has served as Co-Partner since the 61st Berlinale in 2011, celebrating and supporting the art of filmmaking and Berlin's largest cultural event.
The 62nd Berlinale saw the German watchmaker enhance its commitment by founding the “Made in Germany – Perspektive Fellowship” award, together with the Berlinale's "Perspektive Deutsches Kino" section.

The €15,000 award is funded by Glashütte Original and designed to support talented young directors as they develop materials and a screenplay for their next film project. All the directors who screened films in the Perspektive Deutsches Kino programme in 2012 are eligible to compete for the 2013 award.
A prominent Jury has been selected, and their decision will be announced during the Perspektive Deutsches Kino opening ceremony set for February 8, 2013 during the Berlinale. The three jury members are: author and director Hans-Christian Schmid; Nicolette Krebitz, best known as an actress, and the documentary and feature film producer, Heino Deckert.

Last year's Festival saw the inaugural edition of a series of events under the heading "Reden über Film", arranged jointly by Glashütte Original and the Perspektive Deutsches Kino. The sessions offer the public and press an opportunity to meet with key players in the film business.
The success of the initial round of Film Talks at the 2012 Festival has led the organizers to move the event to a larger venue for the 2013 edition.

During two days (12th and 14th of February) the initiators invite the interested public to join the one-hour talks at the Home Base Lounge, Köthener Strasse 44.
A selection of the Saxon manufactory's exclusive watches will be exhibited in the lounge again this year, and a professional watchmaker will be on hand to explain the finer points of the complications to connoisseurs and friends of hand-made timepieces from the manufactory in Glashütte, Germany.

Along with the world's top films and filmmakers, the Berlinale highlights the extraordinary professional craftsmanship that goes into the making of a successful film.
Glashütte Original is particularly attentive to the value of skills, which are as essential to the making of exceptional timepieces as they are to filmmaking.
As a leading maker of high-end watches, Glashütte Original celebrates extraordinary craftsmanship, incomparable expertise and more than 165 years of experience in the fine art of watchmaking. The 63rd Berlinale will doubtless attract an appreciative audience.
