The autumn 2016 edition of GMT magazine is published this week together with the GPHG catalogue. Its readership, audited by the REMP, is increasing.

2 x 24

Rather than celebrating my 48th birthday which happened to fall right in the middle of Baselworld this year, I invited that evening those among my watchmaking friends who were available after their commitments at the fair to toast the age of 2 x 24. This is somehow far less depressing and more in sync with the key figures of the great industry we serve. I seldom give in to the navel-gazing that can potentially tempt any editor worth his or her salt to talk about themselves, even on networks that I would be inclined to describe as anti-social. This is however the only time that the number of years of my insignificant existence has corresponded to the issue number of this loyal ambassador of the 12th art: GMT. Two times two zones. Indeed a great life! The Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève has also decided this year to introduce a Travel Time category to its official selection. This is described in the No. 48 which will be available everywhere during the prize-giving ceremony which can be watched live on worldtempus.com. Moving beyond this digression that is totally devoid of any editorial interest, I would like to reassure you of the relevance and quality of the 4 x 24 pages that follow, starting with our Cover story on the Timewalker ExoTourbillon Minute Chronograph by Montblanc, selected for the GPHG 2016. The vision of the watchmaking market shared by the CEOs of Bulgari and Van Cleef & Arpels says a lot about the efforts that need to be made by an entire industry, while our Architectures and Innovations sections for their part say a lot about the efforts effectively being made by the most deserving brands in certain areas. This No. 48 remains filled with the same pro-watchmaking DNA that has characterized GMT since its birth at the start of the third millennium, driven by a desire to share its passion for beautiful watches. Let’s end this editorial in the manner in which we began, by rejoicing and blowing candles – this time for the 15th anniversary of our partner website, WorldTempus, which has joined forces with six big brands to create six one-of-a-kind models prominently featuring the number 15 and which may be acquired by our most enthusiastic readers.
