The pre-holiday period is traditionally a time for students to celebrate passing their final exams in a wide range of disciplines. The Watch Sales Academy, a specialised institution, is no exception.
At the end of June, nine candidates for the Swiss national diploma in watch sales were presented with their certificates by the chairman of the examining board, Gérard Gouten, at a brief ceremony in Neuchâtel’s Beau-Rivage Hotel.
This year’s graduates are from a variety of backgrounds, but most of them work for multi-brand stores in French-speaking Switzerland. They and their employers understand the vital importance of specialised training; today’s customers today are far more knowledgeable about watches than they have ever been, and it is crucial for sales staff to be able to answer all their questions and give them the information they expect. Sales assistants with a federal diploma are better equipped to offer their clients the highest standard of service, and they have the knowledge to explain all the technical subtleties of haute horlogerie movements. Thanks to what they learn on the diploma course, our graduates have the ability to analyse a watch, which means they can not only offer comparisons, they can also give clients genuinely useful advice to help them make their purchase.
